ROAD CYCLING GROUP AT THE NEWPORT VELODROME

A newly formed Taunton CSSA Road Cycling Group got together for an introductory track riding session at the Newport Velodrome in November.  Seventeen intrepid (nervous) riders took to the track trying to emulate Sir Chris Hoy or Bradley Wiggins. 

Newport Velodrome offers an indoor 250 metre Siberian Pine track.  Riding a fixed wheel bike with no brakes takes some getting used to hence the coach built us up from general bike handling skills right through to having the confidence to ride flat out around the top of the banking. 

The session culminated in a 32 lap endurance race which was enjoyed by all.  A second session is booked for Friday 19th March.
